Lake Tahoe - California/Nevada

On the border of California and Nevada, one can discover one of America’s most prized treasures: Lake Tahoe. Read more...

Plunging to a depth of 1,645 feet, this 2 million-year-old sapphire body of water is the jewel of its namesake, Tahoe Basin. The Tahoe Basin is included in the boundaries of the Tahoe National Forest and Tahoe State Park. Activities for park visitors include vast hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking trails including the famed Tevis Cup Trail. Not interested in seeing Tahoe on foot? Consider a guided boat tour of the lake’s 72 miles of shoreline.

Tahoe hosts world-class winter athletes as well and was home to the 1960 Winter Olympics, making California the only province in the world to have ever hosted both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, and mountaineers delight in the terrain of the backcountry options available for winter recreation. Families enjoy the miles of coast, and for the more adventurous members of your family, activities such as water-skiing, parasailing, and scuba diving are available. Tahoe is conveniently located just south of Truckee off I-80 and is easily accessed from Reno, Sacramento, Oakland, and San Francisco Airports by bus or car. Come to experience Lake Tahoe, the jewel of the Sierras.
